Roland has recently unveiled an updated version of its Roland GO:PIANO 88, enhancing the features of this ultra-portable digital piano. Originally launched in 2019, the GO:PIANO 88 was designed to cater to beginners and those seeking a lightweight and compact instrument. The latest iteration builds upon this foundation, introducing several enhancements to elevate the playing experience.
The GO:PIANO series by Roland is synonymous with user-friendly and portable musical instruments, tailored especially for novices. The initial GO:PIANO model made its debut in 2017 with 61 keys, followed by the introduction of the 88-key variant two years later. The newest rendition of the GO:PIANO 88 retains the core attributes of its predecessor while incorporating notable upgrades.
Retaining its compact form factor, the Roland GO:PIANO 88 boasts 88 full-size velocity-sensitive keys, now featuring an ivory feel coating for improved tactile feedback. Notably, the keybed does not employ hammer action but opts for semi-weighted keys, striking a balance between portability and playability. Weighing in at just under 6 kg, or 13 lbs, it remains remarkably lightweight for a full-sized keyboard instrument.
One of the key enhancements in the latest version is the expanded sound selection. With a total of 40 onboard sounds, including various piano, electric piano, organ, and additional instrument options, musicians have a diverse palette at their fingertips. By connecting the piano to the Roland Piano App on iOS and Android devices, users gain access to the Piano Designer feature, allowing for customization of settings like lid opening, damper resonance, and tuning. Moreover, the app unlocks an additional 256 GM2 sounds, expanding creative possibilities.
Incorporating practical features for learning and performance, the Roland GO:PIANO 88 includes functions like split and layer modes for combining two sounds, as well as a Duo mode designed for educational purposes. A built-in metronome and MIDI recorder further enhance its utility. Additionally, connectivity options abound, with a headphone output, sustain pedal jack, and USB-C port for seamless integration with computers and mobile devices. The USB port supports both MIDI data transfer and audio streaming, enabling users to play along with their favorite tracks. Furthermore, the piano offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, facilitating wireless interaction with the Roland Piano App and other music applications on smart devices.
For power flexibility, the Roland GO:PIANO 88 can be powered by an external supply or battery operation, catering to musicians on the move. The latest model is now available for purchase, offering a blend of portability, functionality, and musical versatility.
