Renowned musician Howard Jones is set to unveil his latest musical endeavor, a return to his classical roots with his upcoming album, “Piano Composed.” Scheduled for release on May 23rd through Cherry Red, this album marks Jones’ foray back into his origins as a classically-trained pianist. The album features a collection of ten new piano-based compositions, each with a unique backstory and inspiration.
Jones, a pioneer in electronic music, found inspiration for “Piano Composed” during the Covid lockdown period. Encouraged by his friend and fellow musician BT, Jones crafted these pieces on his beloved Steinway D piano. The album will be available in two distinct formats, each offering a fresh perspective on the compositions. The limited edition vinyl version, “Piano Composed Ivory,” includes a detailed 36-page illustrated booklet with musical transcriptions of five pieces, along with personal notes from Jones. On the other hand, the standard CD version, “Piano Composed Spirio,” presents a reimagined sequence of all ten tracks, showcasing Jones’ creative evolution.
Reflecting on the project, Jones expressed his deep connection to the piano, the instrument that has been central to his musical journey since childhood.
